 The area around Eildon Musselburgh is an historic town 5 miles east of Edinburgh City Centre which is about 20 - 25 minutes away by bus or around 15 minutes by car. There is a good selection of local restaurants within easy walking distance. Musselburgh also has a famous nine hole golf course (arguably the oldest in Scotland) and a racetrack where flat racing, steeplechase and trotting races are held on a regular basis. There is also a fine harbour. Located away from the town centre on a secondary road, Eildon is also well situated for drives to the superb beaches and countryside of East Lothian and the historic homes and abbeys of the Border country.
 It is just a short stroll to the picturesque village of Inveresk, one of the oldest villages in Scotland and the site of an extensive Roman settlement. There are lovely walks along the river Esk through Lewisvale Park and to the beach  and harbour. Nearby is a modern swimming pool with sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and other sporting facilities. There are 17 golf courses in the area, cinema, bowling and a theatre. Golf, fishing, horse-riding and karting can be arranged. There is ample parking and secure bicycle storage is available. Eildon is conveniently located for the Edinburgh City Bypass and for roads north and south and the airports of both Edinburgh and Glasgow. There is an excellent frequent bus service to the city centre. |
